Himuro Family
The Himuro Family resided in Himuro Mansion, and were first seen in the first Fatal Frame game. They were charged with performing the Strangling and Blinding rituals, to prevent the Calamity from occurring.
There is no family tree/chart for this family, since there is no clear indication of exactly how they are all related.
Himuro Family Members
Fatal Frame
Himuro Family Master (氷室家当主)
Head of the family and acting Ceremony Master at the time of the Calamity. It was his job to preside over the Blinding Ritual and Strangling Ritual. It was his job to apply the Blinding Mask to the face of the maiden, and to pull one of the ropes during the Strangling Ritual along with the family priests. After the Calamity occurred, the Himuro Family Master was driven mad by the Malice escaping from the Hell Gate, and decapitated those who had gathered in Himuro Mansion for the Strangling Ritual that had not died in the initial wave of Malice.
Kirie Himuro (氷室 霧絵)
Kirie Himuro was the final Rope Shrine Maiden to be sacrificed. During her seclusion, she met and fell in love with a man visiting the mansion. The priests became worried that Kirie was becoming too close to him, so they stopped him from visiting her. Upon his return, they murdered him and dumped his body in the Abyss. Kirie was told that he had left, but she eventually worked out what they had done. Due to her conflicting emotions and wish to live at the time of her ritual, it failed and the Laceration Rope produced was not strong enough to bind the gate shut. As a result, the gate opened and the Calamity occurred.
Blinded (目隠し鬼)
The last Blinded Maiden before the Calamity. She was chosen during the Demon Tag Ritual, as she was the first girl caught. A few months before Kirie's Strangling Ritual was due to take place, she was blinded with the Blinding Mask. What happened to Blinded after this is not known, including if she was able to perform the Demon Tag Ceremony to choose the next Blinded Maiden and Rope Shrine Maiden. It is presumed she perished during the Calamity along with the other people killed.
Headless Priests (首無し神官の霊)
The priests that were members of and served the Himuro family, participating in various rituals, assisting the family master. They restrained Blinded as the mask was being applied, and also each pulled a rope in the Strangling Ritual. Their primary duty was to look after the Rope Shrine Maiden during her seclusion. The priests that looked after Kirie Himuro prior to her ritual murdered her lover by order of the Himuro Family Master, fearing that he would distract her from her duty. After the Calamity occurred, the Himuro Family Master was driven insane by the Malice and, along with almost everyone else in the mansion that survived the initial wave, they were decapitated by his katana.
People Killed (痺気で倒れた人々)
People Killed were three of the Himuro family members that had gathered at the mansion on the day of the final Strangling Ritual. After the Hell Gate opened, causing the Calamity, they were killed where they had been gathered inside the Demon Mouth.
- Note: There were many more People Killed, though the game uses models for only three of them. The above section describes the ones you actually encounter as hostile ghosts that go by the name "People Killed".
Rope Shrine Maiden (縄の巫女)
The Rope Shrine Maidens were members of the Himuro family, sacrificed in the Strangling Ritual. The maidens were chosen by a game of Demon Tag; the chosen maiden was the girl caught last, as it was thought that she had the highest spiritual power for evading the Blind Demon for the longest. They were then kept in seclusion for approximately 10 years, tended to only by family priests wearing masks, before being lead to the Moon Well to purify themselves in moonlight at the bottom. On December 13th they were sacrificed on the altar in the mansion's basement, the rope used to tear them apart binding the Hell Gate for another 10 years.
Former Rope Shrine Maiden (昔の縄の巫女)
One of the former Rope Shrine Maidens, sacrificed in the Strangling Ritual. She was successfully sacrificed in the Strangling Ritual at Himuro Mansion prior to Kirie Himuro's failed ritual.
Long Arms (手の長い男の霊)
A man that was alive at least 20 years prior to Kirie's ritual. He was deeply attached to his daughter, who was chosen to be the next Rope Shrine Maiden in the Demon Tag Ritual. Long Arms was upset that he would never be able to see his daughter again, most likely attempting to stop her being taken away and put into confinement. What happens to Long Arms and his daughter is never mentioned. His daughter, however, most probably went on to become sacrificed as a Rope Shrine Maiden.
Long Arms' Daughter (N/A)
Long Arms' Daughter was chosen as a Rope Shrine Maiden, at least 20 years prior to Kirie's ritual. She was taken from her father and put into confinement. What happens to her is never mentioned, though she almost certainly went on to be sacrificed 10 years later.
Fatal Frame III
Kizuna Himuro (氷室緤)
Kizuna was one of the maidens sacrificed in the Strangling Ritual at Himuro Mansion. She, also, was chosen by a game of Demon Tag when she was around 7 years old. She was successfully sacrificed.
