Tooru as an evil spirit

Tooru Nue is a character in Fatal Frame: Shadow Priestess. He is a senior in the modern architecture seminar Sara Washizuki attends. Mr. Koutari selects him and Narumi Amanuma to be in charge of organising the class trip to Karasawa Elementary.

Tooru has a slight sixth sense, and when the group becomes trapped in Karasawa Elementary, he reveals that he has visited Mount Kegare before, and knows a little about the folklore surrounding it. He is aware that Sara is the Shadow Priestess, and when she and Tousei become separated from Tooru's group, he suggests they make it a priority to find her again. They set out to look for her, but instead, they find Kumi Suzumori, a classmate who vanished the night before. Kumi is acting strangely, but Tooru is the first to suspect that she has become an evil spirit, and is no longer human. Kumi possesses Tooru and uses him to chase Jun, Midori and Mr. Koutari through the corridors of the school. He is halted by a barrier created by Mozu and Tsugumi, and wanders away.

After a while, Tooru/Kumi locates the others in a classroom, discussing how to break the Dark Seal. Although he retains Tooru's appearance, he acts coy and frivolous like Kumi, quickly arousing Tousei and Sara's suspicions. Takeru Ugajin, an urban explorer whose group met Sara's while exploring the school, unwisely approaches Tooru and is absorbed into the spirit. After that, Tooru assumes Takeru's form instead. Sara exorcises Takeru using the Camera Obscura, and Tooru does not appear again.
