The Twisted Guardians (Japanese: hakome) are ghosts featured in Fatal Frame V. They were shrine maidens with weak powers, forced into reliquaries by the Shadow-touched and sunk on Mount Hikami as pillars, losing their human form. They were unable to withstand the pain of coming into contact with black water, and their boxes opened. Now they are tainted souls who try to lead people into the water.
