}}In this chapter, [[Rei Kurosawa]] attempts to break the seals on the door to the Shrine Courtyard. Following bloodstains from the [[Spirit Tree Garden]], she is attacked by the spirits of [[Shrine Carpenters]], who were murdered and made into [[Sacrificial Pillars]]. Their killers, the [[Engraved Men|Moriya builders]], also died, and their sacrifices sealed the door. Rei tracks them down to the [[Hall with Tatami]], the [[Futon Room]], the [[Stairs Hallway]] and the Foyer.

Returning to the Spirit Tree Garden, Rei finds one last seal remaining on the double doors. [[Tengai Narumi]] appears behind her, warning her not to open the doors. Rei wakes up in the middle of the night, and receives a phonecall from a woman who says, "I should have died..."
