}}Effigies are dolls used in the rituals of [[Mount Hikami]] in [[Fatal Frame V]]. They were used as offerings, and were said to house the spirits of children. It appears to have been the custom for each child to have a doll of their own, which would be offered up at one of the Doll Shrines if the child died. The unnamed man who attempted to restore the [[Shrine of Dolls]] mentioned that all of the dolls had names carved on them somewhere, and sometimes hair or teeth hidden inside them.<ref>[[Shrine of Dolls 1]], [[Fatal Frame V]]</ref>

Children near the mountain began to use their dolls in games based on local folklore,<ref>[[Shrine of Dolls 3]], [[Fatal Frame V]]</ref> and [[Shiragiku]] tries to make visitors to the shrine play these games with her and the spirits of children accompanying her.
