			氷室邸にある小さなお堂は、「月
			読堂」と呼ばれ、儀式の生贄となった巫
			女の御霊を祭ったものと記されている。

			月読堂の中には「月の井戸」と呼ばれ
			る空井戸があり、儀式の日には井戸の底
			まで月の光を導き入れることができるよ
			うになっている。


			儀式前の縄の巫女は、井戸の底で、そ
			の月の光を浴びて身を清める、とされて
			いる。

			月の井戸の底はそのまま地下に繋がっ
			ており、縄の巫女だけが、この井戸を通
			って地下へ行くと記されている。


			伝承によると、最初の巫女の遺体が月
			読堂に祭られているとあるが、堂内には、
			資料価値があるようなものは納められて
			いなかった。
