A forest located halfway up Mt. Hikami. The name comes from a folk tale, saying that those who wander into the forest forget who they are and where they are going.

The new path to the shrines goes through this forest. It was built as part of the project aiming to restore the mountain into a tourist destination.

However, after a landslide destroyed most of it, only parts remain. Some areas have flooded and are now fenced off.

Since the mountain became infamous as a suicide spot, many curious occultists have broken through those fences.

Belongings of missing people can be found there. Some say that those who go astray in the forest do not just get lost, but that they are killed by something.

不知ノ森（しらずのもり）

日上山の中腹にある、平坦な地域に
広がる森。

「歩くうちに様々なことを忘れる、自分の
行くべき場所を見失う」などの言い伝えが
あり、この名が付けられたと言われている。


観光地化の際に参道が整備されたものの、
地滑りにより一部が崩れ、沼地化した
地面に沈むなど、途切れてしまっている。

参道以外の道は、木々の間を抜ける、
入り組んだ「けもの道」のような脇道ばかり
であり、また、所々が沼地化しているため、
現在はフェンスで囲われ、立ち入りが禁止
されている。


日上山が心霊スポット、自殺の名所と
して有名になってからは、フェンスを破り
侵入する人々が後を断たない。

行方不明者の遺留品などが多く見つか
るが、自殺者だけでなく、中には森に潜む
凶悪犯に惨殺された者もいる、という噂も
ある。
