A Japanese-style house with a shingle roof, the home of folklorist Keiji Watarai. It had been built on the outskirts of the Unfathomable Forest, a place not easy to get to. Keiji likely wanted to avoid all disturbances as he devoted himself to studying the local religious beliefs and practices.

When attempts to develop the mountain failed, it was shut down. Police officers stationed at the foot of the mountain came to investigate the house, and found it abandoned. No one could tell what became of the folklorist. Afterwards, the house itself disappeared, and the whole incident was forgotten.

Now, tales of the house have resurfaced. People say it appears on foggy days, and that Keiji's works will still be found in there. Others say he is still there, continuing his research. If anyone dares enter, then Keiji, keen to study the darker local rituals, will kill them as sacrificial offerings.

渡会邸（わたらいてい）

かつてこの山を調べていた民俗学者、
渡会啓示が住んでいた、板葺き二階
建ての民家。渡会の希望により
不知ノ森の外れに建てられた。

当時はケーブルカーやトンネル工事の前
であり、交通の便も悪く人も訪れない場所
に一人住み、日上山信仰を調べていた。


地滑り等で工事は中止となり、山への人
の立ち入りが制限されるようになった後、
麓に駐在する巡査が数度、度会邸を
訪ねたが誰もおらず、その後の捜索にも
拘らず消息はわからなかったため、行方
不明とされた。

その後、家自体も跡形もなく消え去った。
当時は不思議がられたが、
いつしか忘れられた存在となった。


近年、心霊スポットとして有名になった
日上山で、霧の中に現れる「マヨイガ」が
噂となった。

マヨイガでは日上山についての多くの書物
があり、山から出られなくなった民俗学者が
いまだ研究を続けている。
家に入り、彼に見つかると、儀式の研究の
ために生贄とされてしまう、と噂されている。
