Localization Standards

Long Vowels

In early Fatal Frame games, long vowels were often dropped entirely. For example, the surname Asou could be rendered as Asou or Asō, leading Fatal Frame II to call him Aso. Fatal Frame III (and the Japanese textures of Fatal Frame IV) spelled it Asou. Wherever possible, unless the word has been set in stone as lacking long vowels, Zero Wiki keeps them for easy spelling and searching (e.g. Rougetsu instead of Rōgetsu; yuurei instead of yūrei).

Japanese Brackets

Consistent with the early games, the Japanese brackets「」will be replaced will quotation marks (e.g. フィルム「涯」→ Film "Horizon" ).
