Ren's friend since high school, he now works in the city. He was helping Ren collect Postmortem Photographs when he suddenly lost contact.
He's always had a tendency to go off on his own, often for days, so Hisoka isn't worried about him yet.
He is a narcissist, which has caused issues both at work and in his private life. Hisoka has even suggested Ren might be better off without him.
Kazuya never seemed the type to settle down, so when he said he was getting married, Ren was justifiably stunned.

蓮の学生時代からの友人だが、現在は
繁華街で働いている。
蓮から情報収集のアルバイトを請け負う
ことがあり、「弔写真」の情報を集めて
いたが、その途中に行方不明となった。
普段から放浪癖があるため、蓮からの
捜索依頼に密花はあまり乗り気ではない。
ややナルシスティックなところがあり、その
仕事や生活にも問題が多いことから、
密花は蓮に付き合いを考えるよう注意
している。
普通の結婚とは遠い人間だったため、
結婚報告の電話は蓮にとって大きな驚き
だった。

A former schoolmate of Ren's. He was collecting Postmortem Photographs for Ren when he went missing. Some days later he called with news of his impending marriage.
It was a Ghost Marriage with the bride in the photograph.
During the ceremony he was overcome with fear of the bride, and guilt towards Ren.
The Ghost Marriage failed, and by the time Ren found him he had turned into a ghost.

しかし、それは花嫁の写真に魅入られ、
日上山で幽婚を行うというものだった。
幽婚の間に辿り着いた榊だったが、
そこで待つ花嫁の姿に恐怖を感じたこと、
また蓮に対する未練を残したことにより、
幽婚は不成立となり、民俗学者・度会
啓示と同じ、変わり果てた姿で蓮の前に
現れることになった。
