According to Dr. Asou, the reason why people in various regions have reported observing impossible things in photographs and hearing the voices of spirits through radios is because there are entities that exist within our world which cannot be seen with the naked eye.
The shared features of myths, folk tales, and religious beliefs found all over the country lend credence to his claim.
The Camera Obscura is said to be a device with enhanced power to capture invisible, spectral beings on film.
The Camera Obscura is capable of capturing:
1. Past events, through such sources as the powerful lingering thoughts and emotions of the dead; and,
2. Invisible spiritual entities.
Since the machine produces these images by absorbing the very emotions and souls themselves, taking photographs with it is said to exert an effect on the subject similar to that of an exorcism performed by a psychic medium.
This device will surely aid me in my investigation of the "secret festival", which likely involves many spiritual and religious elements.
However, the camera will also bring me into direct contact with death itself. I must exercise ample caution whilst operating it.
I suspect that Dr. Asou may have lent me this prototype not merely to assist me, but also to test its effects on the human body.

麻生博士曰く、写真にありえないものが写る、ラジオから霊の声が聞こえる現象が各地で報告されているのは、元々この世には「目に見えない何か」が存在するためである。
各地方に伝わる神話、民話、そして信仰の共通性もそれを裏付けている。
この射影機とは、目に見えない霊的な存在を写し出す力を高めた写真機であるらしい。
射影機で写し撮ることができるものとは
一、残留思念などによる、過去の出来事。
一、見えない霊魂的存在。
思念、魂の存在自体を吸収し、写し取る機械であるため、撮影することにより霊能者による除霊に似たような効果が得られるらしい。
「秘祭」を調査するにあたり、霊や信仰的なものが多く関わるであろうことから、有用な機械である。
とはいえ、「死」の存在と関わりをもつことにもなる。使用にあたっては充分な注意が必要となるだろう。
麻生博士がこの試作機を貸し出したのは、人体への影響に関する実験も兼ねてのことなのだろう。
