Mio and Mayu Amakura, identical twins, have arrived on the outskirts of All God's Village after following a Crimson Butterfly through the Forest. After entering the first house they come to, Mayu has flashbacks to Miyako Sudo's life, a woman who became trapped there, and her unfortunate demise inside the cursed Osaka House.

During this introduction chapter, the player learns how to operate the controls of the Camera Obscura, and gets an introductory tutorial of the game.

Misc. Info

• Players cannot take pictures of some of the ghosts in this chapter if it is their first playthrough, as Mio will not have acquired the camera.
• Cutscenes extracted from the August 2003 prototype of the game preserve an earlier version of the story, where Mayu disappears shortly after Mio picks up the Camera Obscura, and Mio explores the Osaka House and fights Miyako Sudo alone. This early version also features a scene of two unnamed men in modern clothes examining the Camera Obscura.
