Fatal Frame IV (Fan Translation)

After the announcement that Nintendo would not be releasing the fourth installment of the Fatal Frame Series to the US and Europe, the fan translation patch was announced in mid summer 2009 by a group of fans who wished to subtitle Fatal Frame IV. The idea was to make a legitimate patch so that US and European Wii owners would be able to play legal copies Japanese game with English subtitles.

Expansions

  • An alternative costumes package was supplied along with the original patch. Among these costumes were a Travis Touchdown costume for Choshiro Kirishima in tribute to Suda51's contribution to the game, and a Mario costume for Misaki Asou to match the Luigi costume already obtainable in the original game.
  • The Spanish Fan Translation was released on August 28th, 2010, with many extras and improvements. Visit the official site!
In addition to the Spanish-language patch, an updated version of the English-language patch was also released, including all the Spanish patch's fixes and extras. The update is available here.
  • The French Fan Translation was released on September 2 2011. Visit the official site!
  • A fan project to dub the game was announced on November 9th, 2009 in the BCL forums. This DUB Project was cancelled due to creative differences amongst the dub group.

Misc Info

  • The English patch uses the English version of Tsukiko Amano's song Zero no Chouritsu in the ending where it is featured.
  • The original patch did not attempt to fix the game's glitches, but a later update by Benja at Project Sae dealt with some bugs and made it possible to complete the spirit list. Link to patch update
  • A few words and locations were given alternative names in the English translation in hopes of making them seem more understandable to an English Audience. A full list of terms used in the Patch and the Wiki can be found here.
