Seijiro Makabe was a folklorist who travelled all over Japan investigating local customs.
He borrowed the Camera Obscura from his friend Dr. Asou and set out to make an account of All God's Village's practice of raising twins as Shrine Maidens and its hell-gate ritual, the Forbidden Ritual.
Makabe's goal was to clear up the old legends about the hell gate by taking photographs and conducting research on the village and its Forbidden Ritual.

Mio's Notes: The Folk Scholar
Obtained: Chapter III, after reading Folk Scholar's Writings IV
Replaced by: The Kusabi
Seijiro Makabe was a folk scholar who studied local customs and traditions throughout Japan. He became interested in the rumours of unique customs in Minakami Village, involving twins and a chasm said to be the gateway to hell.
He borrowed a device known as the Camera Obscura from his friend, Dr. Asou, and headed to the village, intending to document the Hidden Ceremony.
Makabe wished to capture images of this gateway to hell, which seemed to have such deep roots in local folk tradition. His only desire was further knowledge of folk tradition.
