Mio's Memo: Twin Order
Obtained: Chapter VIII, after reading Folklorist's Note 12

Nowadays, when twins are born, we think of the one born first as being the older brother or sister. But All God's Village thought the "superior", or "older", twin would let the "lesser", or "younger", twin born first.

In the same way, throughout ancient Japan, the twin born first was considered to be (the) younger brother or sister, and the one born second the older twin. But on December 13th, 1874, an edict proclaimed the one born first was the older twin. From that day, that became the accepted rule.

Mio's Notes: Which Twin is Older?
Obtained: Chapter VIII, after reading Folk Scholar's Writings XII

In modern Japan, the twin born first is taken to be the eldest sibling.

However, in Minakami Village, it is believed that the elder twin allows the younger one to be born first.

Indeed, this tradition once existed throughout Japan, where the first-born twin was viewed as the younger sibling.

A government edict of 13th December 1874 brought this tradition to an end, stating that, in the eyes of the law, the first-born twin is the eldest.

This has been the law ever since.
