Walking through the courtyard, I saw a woman in a white kimono by the window. I waved to her, I thought she was looking at me. But she hid herself. I have been staying at this mansion for quite some time now, but had never noticed that she lived here at all.

When I peered out from the window (of) the guest room, I saw the same woman in the white kimono walking in the courtyard (by) herself.

So I went outside too.

Her name is Kirie, and she lives inside the mansion.

I'm thinking to visit her sometime.



I visited Kirie's Room. I was shocked that she is living in some sort of prison cell. I took her to the courtyard and we walked a bit together.

I asked the servants about Kirie, but they wouldn't tell me anything about her.



I visited her room again today. They asked me not to take her outside, but I did anyway. I snuck her out to the courtyard.

She told me that she had never been outside of the mansion.

I told her that I wanted to show her the outside world. For some reason, however, her face remained sad.



The priest of the mansion told me not to visit Kirie any more.

I asked him why. He told me that she has become too sick to have visitors.

Shocked, I asked about her illness, but he wouldn't tell me anything. It seems that the priest doesn't like me meeting with Kirie. It's hurting a lot, not being able to see her.



I asked several times for permission to visit Kirie, but they never allowed me.

When I tried to approach her room, I was turned away by guards. They even went so far as to say that I would be putting my life in danger if I came back again.

I wonder what happened to her?



I'm thinking to sneak into Kirie's Room tonight.

I don't care what kind of danger awaits me.

庭に出て歩いていると、窓越しに白い着物の女性をみかけた。
こちらを見ているようなので手を振ってみたら、物かげにかくれてしまった。
この屋敷に長い間世話になっていたが、いままで彼女が住んでいたことには全く気づかなかった。

客室から外を眺めると、この前の白い着物の女性が中庭を歩いているのをみかけたので外に出てみることにした。
彼女は霧絵という名前で、屋敷の一室でくらしているらしい。
今度、彼女の部屋に行ってみようと思う。

霧絵の部屋に行ってみた。
彼女が座敷牢のような場所でくらしていたのに驚いた。
部屋の外に連れ出して一緒に中庭を散策した。
この屋敷の使用人に霧絵について聞いてみたが、彼女に関することは何も話してもらえなかった。

今日も彼女に会いに行った。
部屋の外に出さないように言われたが、こっそりと庭に連れ出してあげると、とても喜んだ。
霧絵は屋敷の外に出たことが無いと言う。
外の世界を見せてあげたいと言うと、なぜかとても悲しい顔をした。

屋敷の宮司から霧絵と会わないように言われた。理由を聞くと、彼女は重い病で、人と会うことが出来ないとののこと。
驚いて病ことについて聞いたが、それ以上のことは教えてもらえなかった。
どうも屋敷の宮司は私が彼女に会うことを良くは思っていないようだ。
霧絵に会えない事がとても寂しく感じる。

あれから何度か彼女に会わせて欲しいと頼んだが聞さ入れられなかった。
霧絵の部屋に近づこうとすると、見張りに乱暴に追い返され、今度、この場所に近づいたら、命の保証は無いとまで言われた。
いったい彼女になにがあったのだろうか？

今夜こっそりと霧絵に会いに行こうと思う。
たとえどんな運命が待っていようとも。
