Black, human-shaped stains in the narrow corridor inside the dream manor. According to an old newspaper, they dug up a similar place while re-building a shrine, and found large numbers of mummified bodies.
Sacrificial Pillars, the paper called them...

The old book tells how a family named Moriya marked by the tattoo killed the shrine carpenters after they had built the manor, then ended by making themselves into Taboo Pillars or Sacrificial Pillars.
All except one, the new Master Builder.
