It must be more than ten years since my father used to visit this village as a travelling merchant, but I doubt anything has changed.
Mr Makabe's intention is to learn more about the village I visited so often as a child.
I wonder what has happened to Itsuki and Mutsuki?
Itsuki's letter has got me rather worried.
After asking around the village, it seems that both Itsuki and Mutsuki fell ill and died. It's strange that Itsuki never mentioned such a thing in any of his letters.
I was granted permission to look through Itsuki's papers. It seems that he was secretly trying to find a way out of the village.
Ever since he was a little boy, Itsuki has talked about a 'festival' he was terrified of.
Perhaps he's left the village after all.
Or maybe he's being hidden somewhere here.
