This village's ceremony is closely linked to the idea of 'twins', and yet it would appear that the recent edict to consider the first born twin the elder has not reached these parts.

Indeed, the very idea was met with snorts of derision when I spoke to the local priests about it.
They maintained that their custom had always been the same, and would never change.

The one who is born last is the elder.

この村の儀式には「双子」が深く関わって
いる。

近年、双子の順番について
「先に生まれた方を兄・姉とする」
という太政官布告が出された。

地方ごとに違う双子の兄弟の順は、この日を
境に、先に生まれた方が兄・姉になる
と定められた。


この村の儀式に関わることであると
思われたため、祭主に聞いたところ、
しきたりはしきたりだと、一笑に
ふされてしまった。


この村では、古いしきたり通り

「後に産まれた方が兄・姉」

で儀式が執り行われる。
