In order to make this new contraption operate, the dolls must be imbued with something that can serve as a soul for them.
This soul, however, must be one of a kind, never to be recreated again.
As it is the key to my plan, I cannot let it fall into the hands of the manikin.
Thus, I will conceal it within one of the hanging dolls. As they say, what better place to hide a tree than in the midst of a forest?
