ISLANDERS FOUND DEAD
At approx. 4:30 PM yesterday, the captain of the Oboro-maru, docked at Rogetsu Isle, reported the deaths of multiple Rogetsu islanders. All of the bodies were found with their hands covering their faces, leading the police to fear an outbreak of some kind of infectious disease.
NO SURVIVORS FOUND
The police plan to continue the search for those islanders whose whereabouts have yet to be determined while recovering the bodies. Despite everyone on the island being either missing or dead, there were no signs of any conflict or foul play.
Faced with nothing to go on but the sudden disappearance of the island's population and without any evidence of natural disasters, the police remain baffled by this bizarre incident.

Additional Information
The article refers to a passenger-carrying boat named the Oboro Maru. The character 丸 (Maru) is affixed in accordance with Japanese ship-naming conventions. Oboro (おぼろ) is another pronunciation of the character 朧 (rou; hazy), the first character in "Rogetsu". The most probable explanation is that this is a liner which carries goods and passengers through the archipelago and was named accordingly. However, it could simply be an in-joke.
