A heavy atmosphere has fallen on the infirmary. Staff members dying, patients disappearing...
A sudden glut of sadness.
I think that ever since that day, the patients' behavior has grown even stranger.
The nurses and patients alike are being crushed under this melancholy. I'm trying to distract myself from it by focusing on my work. I've been covering Nurse Tono's responsibilities since her death, watching the third floor until they find a proper replacement for her.
No sooner had I taken over her work than I heard that a patient was leaving, one of the girls who had been kidnapped.
I was tidying up her room when I found a diary belonging to her mother. They're both leaving the island, so I doubt anyone will be back to pick it up anytime soon.
This island may have painful memories for them, but no matter what happens, it'll always be their home.
They might come back one day... I'll keep it safe for them until they do.

この病院によどんだ空気が流れている。
⋯病院関係者の事故死。
⋯入院患者の神隠し。
突如立て続けに発生した不幸。
⋯あの日以来
患者達の行動は異様さを
増して来たように思う。
看護婦も医者も、陰鬱な空気に
押しつぶされそうだ。
三階担当の遠野さんが
亡くなってしまった為、
新しい人が入るまでの間
私が遠野さん担当を
引き継ぐことになった。
引き継ぎ早々、患者が病院を去ると
連絡があった。
神隠しにあって無事発見された子。
その子の部屋を整理していたら、
母親の日記が見つかった。
その母子は島を出るらしいから、
もう取りに来ることはないだろう。
⋯つらい思い出がある島でも、
生まれ育った場所。
いつか帰ってくるかもしれない。
その時まで、大切に預かって
おくことにしよう。
