Those with spiritual potential can see shadows, forms invisible to the average person. The souls of the dead, vestiges of thoughts left behind in a place...

My Camera Obscura was created to capture these clues to the spirit world, and I now have a chance to improve its capabilities even further.

In the course of my research here, I have discovered that the materials used in mask-making on Rogetsu Isle can improve the Camera Obscura's ability to capture those shadowy forms on film.

I have also come to believe that the Camera Obscura holds a power greater than even I had ever expected.

This is the power of the Camera Obscura to affect these shadows when photographing them. It is something like the "exorcism" that those with spiritual potential refer to.

It is my experiments on this island that have brought me to this bold conviction.

I have decided to donate a Camera Obscura to the owner of the hotel. I did not explain why I was donating it, but... I cannot help but feel that there will come a day when this island will need the power of the Camera Obscura.

I only hope that I am wrong and that such a day will never come...

霊能者達に見え、私たちには見えぬ影。

死者の魂や、その場に残った思念といった
異界に通ずる手がかりを写し出すべく
試作を重ねた「射影機」だが、
更なる改良ができそうだ。

調査の結果、朧月島の面打ちで
用いられる塗料が、その影を
フィルムに焼き付けるのに
有用である可能性が高まったのである。

また調査の中で、「射影機」には
私の予想を超える力が
存在することを確信した。

それは、「射影機」で撮影することで
「影」が、強い影響を受ける、という事である。

私の所感では、霊能者たちの言う
「除霊」に近いものと考える。

なお、この大胆な確信に至るに、
島での体験が大きく作用した事を追記する。

事情は語らぬまま、射影機を一つ
宿の主に寄贈する事にした。

この島にいずれ射影機の力が
必要となる日が来ると
私には思われてならない。
