...The Haibara family has long upheld and passed down the festival, acting as the ritual's priests.
At the same time, we have combated Getsuyuu Syndrome as faith healers.
While observing the teachings of the Haibara family, I have also established a hospital to manage patients while studying Getsuuyu Syndrome from a medical perspective.
Tradition and medicine... I believe that my mission in life is to unite these two forces against this disease.
Long ago, the people of this island used their own methods to endeavor the investigation of the spirit.
One such method was the masks of the kagura. The mask of the Utsuwa, when worn while listening to the music, brings about a loss of self. Meanwhile, the masks of the Kanade maintain a steady rhythm.
Wearing the masks somehow stimulates various parts of the human brain.
This of profound interest, as it establishes masks as a powerful tool for exploring the potential of the mind.
They open the door to a realm hitherto untouched.
This was once the very purpose of the Rougetsu Kagura. Or, rather, of its original form... The Kiraigou. That ritual was a potent means of reaching into the abyss of the spirit.
Alas, the Kiraigou incurred that disaster and has been firmly sealed under a taboo ever since.
...The folklore surrounding that calamity is terrifying. However, in order to overcome Getsuyuu Syndrome, we must tread over that taboo.
The lunar eclipse occurs only once every ten years. If we squander this opportunity, we will not have another.
...And we're running out of time.
