The end is near, and yet... I feel strangely at peace.
I spent a long time here, staring into these masks and searching for Souetsu's temperament. I studied meticulously to one day surpass the mask-carving techniques of his time.
And still I brought forth the Day Without Suffering.
But now I'm thinking that perhaps the Mask of the Lunar Eclipse may not have been a failure at all...
Sakuya bloomed even greater and more brilliantly than the last Day Without Suffering.
If Sakuya performs the Kiraigou again on the day of the next lunar eclipse, she will bloom even greater.
That blooming face... That was the Mask of the Lunar Eclipse that Souetsu sought. That's the feeling I have, now.
Sakuya will soon come to this place, as well.
Until then, at least, I just want to savor this tranquility.

終わりが迫っているのに、
不思議と静かな気持ちだ。
宗悦の境地を求めて、
長い時間ここで面と向き合った。
面打ちの技も、宗悦時代を超えるべく、
研鑽を重ねた。
しかし、無苦の日を招いてしまった。
だが今思うのは、
もしかしたら月蝕の面は
失敗ではなかったかも
しれないということだ。
朔夜は咲いてしまった。
前の無苦の日よりも大きく、華やかに。
次の月蝕の日、
あの朔夜が帰来迎を行えば
さらに大きく咲くことになる。
あの咲いた顔こそが、
宗悦の求めた月蝕の面だった⋯
そんな気すらする。
朔夜はもうすぐ
ここにもくるだろう。
せめてそれまでは、
この静けさを味わっていたい。
