I feel strangely calm despite the coming of the inevitable end.
I spent a lot of time in this place with my masks, in search of Soetsu, devoting myself to improving my art and exceeding even the art of Soetsu's time.
And yet I invited the Day of Tranquility.
But now I think that perhaps my Mask of the Lunar Eclipse was not a failure.
Sakuya has blossomed, even more completely and brilliantly than on the last Day of Tranquility.
If, on the next eclipse, Sakuya were to perform the Rite of Descent, she would blossom even further.
That blossomed face is precisely the Mask of the Lunar Eclipse that Soetsu was searching for...
At least, that is my final hypothesis.
Sakuya will be here soon.
Until she comes, I want to stay here and enjoy the silence.

終わりが迫っているのに、
不思議と静かな気持ちだ。
宗悦の境地を求めて、
長い時間ここで面と向き合った。
面打ちの技も、宗悦時代を超えるべく、
研鑽を重ねた。
しかし、無苦の日を招いてしまった。
だが今思うのは、
もしかしたら月蝕の面は
失敗ではなかったかも
しれないということだ。
朔夜は咲いてしまった。
前の無苦の日よりも大きく、華やかに。
次の月蝕の日、
あの朔夜が帰来迎を行えば
さらに大きく咲くことになる。
あの咲いた顔こそが、
宗悦の求めた月蝕の面だった⋯
そんな気すらする。
朔夜はもうすぐ
ここにもくるだろう。
せめてそれまでは、
この静けさを味わっていたい。
