There are invisible shadows that only psychics can see.
I've developed several prototypes of the "Camera Obscura" in order to capture these clues leading to the Other World, such as the souls of the dead and localized residual thoughts. I believe that I can improve it further still.
My research led me to speculate that the unique paints used in the making of masks on Rogetsu Isle might increase the potential for these shadows to be captured on film.
As a result of further study into this possibility, I am now convinced that a power exceeding even my own expectations dwells within the Camera Obscura.
When this device is used to photograph these "shadows," it has a powerful effect on them.
In my opinion, this effect appears similar to what psychics call "exorcism".
I should add that my arrival at this bold conclusion was profoundly influenced by my personal experiences on this island.
I have also donated the recent prototype to the owner of these lodgings, without proffering an explanation.
I cannot help but think that a day may come when the power of the Camera Obscura will be needed on this island.
I hope that such fears are unfounded.

異界に通ずる手がかりを写し出すべく
試作を重ねた「射影機」だが、
更なる改良ができそうだ。
調査の結果、朧月島の面打ちで
用いられる塗料が、その影を
フィルムに焼き付けるのに
有用である可能性が高まったのである。
また調査の中で、「射影機」には
私の予想を超える力が
存在することを確信した。
それは、「射影機」で撮影することで
「影」が、強い影響を受ける、という事である。
私の所感では、霊能者たちの言う
「除霊」に近いものと考える。
なお、この大胆な確信に至るに、
島での体験が大きく作用した事を追記する。
事情は語らぬまま、射影機を一つ
宿の主に寄贈する事にした。
この島にいずれ射影機の力が
必要となる日が来ると
私には思われてならない。
