In recognition of my fruitful research into the workings of the cranial nervous system, I've been assigned to work as an assistant to Dr. Shigeto Haibara at the Haibara Infirmary on Rogetsu Isle.
Dr. Haibara is the leading researcher of Moonlight Syndrome, a condition peculiar to the Rogetsu Islands.
The documents I've read describe Moonlight Syndrome as a composite mental disorder with curious symptoms such as sleepwalking and memory loss. Despite ongoing research, both the cause of the syndrome and the reason for its confinement to the Rogetsu Islands remain unknown. Dr. Haibara is currently working to discover the truth about the condition.
He has taken a unique approach to treating Moonlight Syndrome, incorporating the folklore of the islands. Treatments such as musical therapy using the traditional Rogetsu Isle "Moonsounds" are unheard of in conventional psychiatry.
I think Dr. Haibara's ideas are leading the profession in an exciting new direction.
His research may not only cure Moonlight Syndrome, but also help to unlock the mysteries surrounding the effect that memory has on the mind. It's fascinating.
I've no doubt that working with Dr. Haibara will be a chance to gain valuable experience that simply can't be found on the mainland.

この度、私の脳神経の研究成果が認められ、
灰原先生の助手として朧月島の灰原病院に
勤務することが正式に決まった。
灰原先生は、
この朧月群島に特有の記憶障害として
知られる「月幽病」研究の第一人者だ。
月幽病は、資料を見た限り
記憶障害に夢遊病の様な奇行を伴う
複合的精神疾患の一種だろう。
ただ、月幽病には謎が多い。
なぜ朧月群島に特有のものなのか、
そしてその発症原因については
未だ解明されていない。
先生は、月幽病に、独特のアプローチで
挑んでいる。
朧月島に伝わる「月の音（つきのね）」を
使った音楽治療等、独自に考案した
治療法は、これまでに例がなく
今後の精神医療を躍進させる
可能性を感じている。
また、この研究を通して
単に精神疾患の治療だけではなく
記憶が精神に与える影響にまで
論を進めており、実に興味深い。
先生の下で働けることは、
本土では決して得る事のできない
貴重な体験となるに違いない。
