Saint Loudun's Academy for Girls
| ||||||||||||||||
Saint Loudun's Academy for Girls is an independent Catholic boarding school that is the setting of Fatal Frame: A Curse Affecting Only Girls. It is a very exclusive establishment, where the students are all daughters of wealthy or well-connected families. All students live in the dorms under a strict moral code, and there are rumours of students dropping out.
The academy is in a dull, isolated town which would be completely unknown if not for the school, and everything the townspeople know about the school is based on rumour, because nobody has bothered to find out the truth.
There are two traditions peculiar to the school, one officially sanctioned, one not. The first is the performance of Ophelia's Song at graduation ceremonies, sung by a student from the graduation class. The second is the student practice of "cursing" the one they love in the hope that she will return their feelings.

Misc. Info
- The name, Saint Loudun's, may be a reference to the Loudun possessions case, when, in 1634, a spate of demonic visitations and possessions was reported at a convent.
