Kuro Karatsu is a character in Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service by Eiji Otsuka. He also appears in Fatal Frame: A Curse Affecting Only Girls and Fatal Frame: The Movie.

A Curse Affecting Only Girls

He and his colleague Keiko Makino come to Saint Loudun's Academy for Girls after Kasumi's body is discovered. He has the ability to see and communicate with the dead, and likens his skills to those of an itako, a blind seer, although he is not blind, and itako were usually female. He uses his abilities to find Aya when she is drugged and locked in a hidden room.

When Aya and Michi dive into a flooded ditch after Risa, Karatsu happens to be nearby, and pulls them out of the water. Karatsu observes that Risa's body is missing its soul, but the soul has not entirely departed, which means she can still be saved. He manages to restore her to her body, and then proposes that they next uncover the secrets of the ghost who looks like Aya, and the memories of Aya's past that she sealed away.

By communicating with the spirit of Mio Takaishi, he unravels the history of the curse, and devises a way to find Maya and separate the curse affecting her and Aya from the one affecting the Headmistress and Mio. Just as events are beginning to unfold, he and Makino abruptly take their leave, hinting that they are being followed.

Fatal Frame: The Movie

Makino and Karatsu arrive at the academy following the deaths of several girls. Karatsu attempts to learn something about their deaths from the residual thoughts surrounding the bodies, but finds they are completely empty, as if their souls have simply been swept away. As they are driving out of town they nearly collide with Risa Suzumori, another missing girl. They take her back to the school, and allow Aya and Michi to see her while the nuns are out of the room. Karatsu says that her spirit is wandering just like the dead girls, but this time he can use his powers as a medium communicate with her. Speaking through him, she tells Aya and Michi that the ghost is summoning girls to a particular place, but something is preventing them from reaching it.
