The day of the eclipse... The day the Kiraigou draws near.
It's an ancient form of the Rougetsu Kagura that remains only in local folklore.
The masks and the music spun by the Kanade guide the spirits of the dead, filling the Utsuwa, who with her dance sends them onward... The original ritual... "Kiraigou".
The director had me prepare the "Lunar Underworld Hall", which will be the stage.
But shrine maidens to perform the music... vocals, bell, flute, drum, and strings... have the five Kanade been assembled?
And the dancer...the Utsuwa is she really going to do it?
Is it even possible to perform Kiraigou in the middle of the Rougetsu Kagura?
...I can't shake this anxiety.
At the same time, I'm becoming fascinated by the Kiraigou.
Ever since I saw that mask.
...the Mask of the Lunar Eclipse.
At once, a gentle smile, the verge of tears, the moment that anger fades, and the very countenance of death.
When I look upon that mask, I feel as thought I'm going mad.
I still want to see the dance that uses this mask. No... I think I'd like to try it on, myself.
It's too late to turn back now...

月蝕の日が⋯帰来迎の日が近い。
伝承にしか残ってない、
朧月神楽の古き姿。
奏がつむぎ出す曲と面によって、
死者の御霊を器に入れ、
舞を踊りこれを還す
原初の儀式⋯「帰来迎」。
舞台となる「月黄泉堂」も、
院長に言われるまま準備を整えた。
しかし演奏する巫女⋯
歌・鐘・笛・鼓・弦⋯
五人の奏はそろうのか？
踊り手⋯器は、本当に彼女が務めるのか？
そして、朧月神楽のさなかに
帰来迎はできるのか？
⋯不安はぬぐい切れない。
だが一方で、私はこの帰来迎に
強く魅了され始めている。
それは、あの面を見たからだ。
⋯月蝕の面。
あの面は、優しい微笑みにも、泣く寸前にも、
怒りを超えた瞬間にも、死の表情にも見える。
あの面を見るほどに
狂おしい気分になる。
私は、この面を使う舞を見てみたい。
いや、自分自身で
つけてみたいとすら思う。
