Additional Information
The term "starving little ones" or "hungry children" (うえた児) may be a visual slant-reference, as Sakuya is aware of the nature of the spirits inhabiting her and this is the only time she calls them "children". うえた creates the term 餓えた (ueta; starved) while 児 (ko; child) is visually similar to 鬼 (oni; demon/ghost). It may be intended that a fluent speaker will be reminded of 餓鬼 (gaki; hungry ghost). Term is used in Japanese Buddhism to refer to, among other concepts, the ill-at-rest spirits in need of pacification/purification featured in the Fatal Frame series.
