Karasawa Village is a mountain village that appears in Fatal Frame: Shadow Priestess. Sara Washizuki grew up there, in a large shrine owned by her family. She and her friend Kanon Ohtori both attended Karasawa Elementary. It is near to Mount Kegare, a sacred mountain where the spirits of suicides and criminals are said to congregate. Mr. Koutari decides to take his modern architecture seminar students on a trip to Karasawa Village to study the architecture of the area, in particular the elementary school. Upon their arrival, Sara reflects that the village has hardly changed at all since she left five years ago.
