Madoka's mother was not able to visit as often as she would have liked, but she wrote letters to Madoka and gave her a pet canary to lift her spirits. It is not known exactly what happened to Madoka's mother, but by the time of Fatal Frame IV, Madoka has no living relatives of her own,[1] and has been living with Misaki's family for a long time.[2]
