In the Fatal Frame Series, there are several different kinds of film that can be used in conjunction with the Camera Obscura. Over the course of the series, different kinds of camera film have been available for use.

Type-07

The film is old. It has almost no exorcising effect.


Type-14

The film is musty. It has only the minimum amount of exorcising effect.


Type-37

Regular film. It has fairly strong exorcismal power.

Available in: Fatal Frame

Type-61

This film is charged with strong will.
It has a moderate exorcising effect.
This film is an equivalent to Fatal Frame's Type-37.


Type-74

High-speed film. It has very strong exorcismal power.

Available in: Fatal Frame

Type-90

This film has been specially sealed.
It has a strong exorcising effect.
This film is the strongest in Fatal Frame, but reduced to the second strongest in later games.
It replaced the earlier 74 type film.


Type- 零 (00/ZERO)

This film has been specially processed.
It has the maximum exorcising effect.


Musty Film

This film is the real world result of Rei taking pictures of certain objects and people with the Camera Obscura in the Manor of Sleep. Unlike the other types of film, it is not film you can battle ghosts with. Once developed in the Darkroom in Rei's house, it can provide clues, or develop the storyline.
