Soetsu Yomotsuki

Template:FF4 Minor CharacterAn ancestor of Ruka Minazuki and Soya Yomotsuki, Soetsu was the head of the Yomotsuki family and the master mask-maker of the island. Soya makes a note that Soetsu was of the seventh generation of Yomotsuki mask makers. He sought to create the true Mask of the Lunar Eclipse for the Rite of Descent, but when his mask was used the ceremony failed, causing a disaster called the Day of Tranquility. After this disaster, there was no further record of Soetsu's life, but the Rite of Descent became taboo and was replaced with a kagura. Soetsu's work was destroyed by the islanders, except for the studies for the Mask of the Lunar Eclipse hidden in the Cavern of Meditation beneath the Shugen Temple.

Generations later, Soya picked up where Soetsu had left off and set out to create the true Mask of the Lunar Eclipse, which would open the way to the Hallowed Realm.
