The Temple of the Lunar Eclipse (or Lunar Eclipse Hall in fan translations) is a large wooden building on Rogetsu Isle, where the Rogetsu Kagura was performed. It was situated between the Yomotsuki Residence and the Primeval Passage, and connected directly to both, allowing people to travel between the island's most important ritual sites. Beneath it was the Temple of Tsukiyomi, where the Rite of Descent was performed.
The exterior of the building is never shown in game, and the main doors leading outside are sealed.
Important Areas
- Antechamber - an altar-room where the Vessel and Kanade would meditate to prepare for the Kagura.
- Lunar Eclipse Dais - the circular stage where the Kagura was performed.
- Rogetsu Dais - the area where the audience would stand to watch.
- Shugen Temple - an area important in the art of mask-making, where facial skin could be purified.
Notable Events
- Yo Haibara kidnapped five girls to perform as Kanade in the secret Rite of Descent from the Rogetsu Dais.
- Tsubaki Tono and the five Kanade in the Rogetsu Kagura of that year died in the middle of their performance.
