Hōzuki Dolls (鬼灯人形, ほおずきにんぎょう) are small Japanese dolls dressed in red. They appear scattered all over Rogetsu Isle in Fatal Frame IV.
Traditionally, these dolls were given as gifts on the island. They were made by parents who had lost a child for the funeral or memorial service. Usually, these dolls are considered extremely unlucky and thought to bring disaster with them. Rogetsu Isle is the exception to the rule. It is an island custom to hide the dolls in various locations.[1]
There are 79 dolls to be found in the game. Photographing them unlocks lenses and costumes for purchase in the clear shop. For a full list of dolls and their locations, see Doll List Sidequest.
