The Luminary Sanctum (首現堂 shugendou; "see note") is an area on Rogetsu Isle connected to the Lunar Eclipse Hall. It was significant to the religion of the islanders, and connected to the craft of mask-making.
The first room in the Sanctum is a shrine decorated with masks, where severed facial skin could be purified. Beyond that is the Mask-Making Room, a workshop for the expert craftsmen of the Yomotsuki Family. Through this workshop, one could also access a network of underground passages known as the Meditation Cave, which emerged at Tsukuyomi Beach.

Misc. Info
- The name of this room is a play on words. It uses the characters 首 (head, in both literal and figurative senses, e.g. a chief, the head of a family, a master craftsman), 現 (current), and 堂 (temple, hall), so a literal interpretation would be the temple used by the current head of the Yomotsuki family. However, when written with different kanji, the word Shugendou refers to an ascetic mountain tradition in Japanese Buddhism; the name translates to "way of study and trial", so the pun gives the impression that the hall was where the maskmakers honed their craft through hard work and discipline, and also hints at esoteric religious practices.
