The Moonbeam Cave is an underground cavern on Rougetsu Island. It is situated below Haibara Hospital. The cavern was used in the rituals of the island; it contains a shrine, and a grand door connects it to the Rougetsu Tunnels.
The name of this cave is related to the natural illumination coming in through the well on the grounds of Haibara Hospital, known as the Moonbeam Well (月映ノ井戸). During the full moon, the well was said to fill up with light, and become a reservoir for the spirits.[1] Those who had lost their memories entirely and become empty shells were sent to the Moonbeam Well to bask in the moonlight, but although this treatment stabilised their condition, [2] it was not expected to restore their memories or sense of self.
