The forbidden ritual passed on in this region is called the Crimson Sacrifice Ritual and is apparently a ceremony where the gates of hell are sealed by sacrificing twin shrine maidens.
There are two parts to the ritual: a periodic Visible Ritual and in the event of its failure, a Hidden Ritual.
Should all the rituals fail, the "gates of hell" will open, the dead will pour out and the skies will go dark. This disaster is called The Repentance.

この地方い伝はる「秘祭」は「紅贄祭」
（あかにえさい）と呼ばれ、双子の巫女を
もつて「黄泉の門」を封じる祭りである
らしい。
「紅贄祭」には「本祭」と呼ばれる定期的
に行はれる祭と、その神事が失敗した時に
行はれる「陰祭」（かげまつり）があると
云ふ。
それらの神事が全て失敗し「黄泉の門」が
溢れる災厄のことを「大償」（おおつぐな
い）と呼び、門から死者が溢れ、天を閉ざ
すと記されてゐる。
