The first part of the ending is the same as the Sprouting Wings Ending, but a new scene plays after the final credits.
Mayu teeters on the edge of the Hellish Abyss, about to fall in. Mio rushes forward to catch her, but is unable to reach her in time. Mayu falls, and Mio plunges into the darkness after her, feeling her body begin to dissolve. As she falls endlessly, she senses Mayu's thoughts, her memories of their childhood when they were one, and her longing to go back to that time. As they remember Mayu's accident, Mio glimpses her sister sinking into the darkness and reaches out for her, saying that she wants to stay with Mayu as well. Mayu stirs and reaches her hand out to Mio, and at that moment Sae and Yae separate from them and help Mio and Mayu join hands and embrace.
Two crimson butterflies are born in the darkness, one from Mio and Mayu, and one from Yae and Sae. Crimson butterflies emerge from the Hellish Abyss, swarm through the village and purify it, releasing the trapped souls of the villagers. As light returns to the village once more, Mio and Mayu are left lying together on the sacrificial stone, while Yae and Sae's spirits stand alongside.
Mio and Mayu find themselves sitting by the stream once more, in the light of day. Mayu murmurs, "It was beautiful," and Mio agrees. Mayu starts to say something else, but as she and Mio hold hands, she changes her mind, and the twins sit in peaceful silence.
Some time later, Mio and Mayu sit beside Minakami Dam in the light of the setting sun. Mio reflects that although everything is over, the memories of what happened and the emotions of the villagers remain within her, as does her love for Mayu. Mayu takes Mio's hand and they start for home, with Mayu leading the way.
