Kiryu Family
The Kiryu family of Minakami Village, which is a smaller branch of the Kurosawa family. The Kiryu family must have played an important role, since their family house is one of the Twin Houses.

Fatal Frame II
The Kiryu Family of Minakami Village consisted of Akane and Azami, and their father, Yoshitatsu.
Akane Kiryu (桐生 茜) and Azami Kiryu (桐生 薊)
Akane and Azami Kiryu were young twins who, though unusually young to do so, were forced to participate in the Crimson Sacrifice Ritual some decades before the Repentance, as they were the only eligible twins in the village at the time. During the ritual Akane strangled Azami to death, and Azami became a butterfly; Akane received the butterfly mark of a Remaining on her throat.
The ritual was a success; however, their father noticed that his surviving daughter was becoming more and more depressed at the loss of her sister. He became saddened at this, and, in an attempt to cheer his daughter up, he built her a doll in Azami's likeness. Akane became very attached to the doll, dragging it everywhere she went with her and always whispering in its ear.
As Akane spent more and more time this way, the doll eventually became possessed by an evil spirit. The spirit began to manipulate Akane.
The spirit of Azami then appeared in a dream to her father, begging him to destroy the doll, leaving an entry in Akane's diary that she had become one with her sister, and that no substitute for her was needed.
Akane was warned by the doll of her father's plans to destroy it. Taking its head and arms, she hid them in boxes around the house so that her father could not find them and enable the passage to the Hellish Abyss.
Akane eventually murdered her father, under the doll's control, to prevent the parts ever being found. Some time after this occurred the doll sucked out Akane's soul, thus bringing an end to the Kiryu family.
Yoshitatsu Kiryu (桐生 善達)
Yoshitatsu Kiryu was the father of Akane and Azami, and a doll maker. His twin daughters participated in the Crimson Sacrifice Ritual at a very young age.
After the ritual was performed and Azami strangled to death by Akane, Yoshitatsu noticed his remaining daughter becoming increasingly depressed after the loss of her sister. Deciding to take action and return Akane to her old self, Yoshitatsu decided to build her a doll that looked almost exactly like Azami, in the hopes that it would comfort her.
After some time of Akane dragging the doll everywhere with her and constantly whispering to it, treating it like it was Azami, Yoshitatsu heard the doll walk around under its own power and finally realized that it had become possessed. After receiving a dream in which Azami begged him to destroy the doll by hanging it and throwing it into the Hellish Abyss, he decided to take action.
His other daughter, however, had already been warned of his plans by the doll and hit its head and arms in boxes around the house. Yoshitatsu could not find the parts of the doll and, subsequently, could not open the only passage to the Abyss.
Some time later, he was murdered by Akane to prevent the parts ever being discovered.
