I suppose it doesn't matter.
I'm glad I decided to do things right and come here to die. This place feels right.
I thought I might get lonely, but there are people here. People who aren't alive.

I heard children playing just now. I tried to get a look at them, but they ran off before I could get close.

もう数える意味も無い数字だけど。
あわてて死ぬことは無い、と思って準備を
して来て良かった。ここは居心地がいい。
一人だと寂しいかとも思ったけど、
人の気配は感じる。生きている人ではない。
噂どおり、あいまいな場所なのかもしれない。
子供たちが遊ぶ声を聞いた。
見に行ってみようと思ったが、近づく前に
みんな逃げてしまった。
あの子たちも、この山に入ったのだろうか。
それとも、置いていかれたのかもしれない。
誰かが息を荒げて走るのを聞いた。
その後、誰かが叫び声を上げた。
私は怖くて、息を潜めて隠れていた。
死ぬのはいいけど、アレは嫌だ。
白い服を着た女性を見た。
薄布を被っていたので、顔は見えなかった。
しばらくこちらを見て、そのまま去っていった。
あの人は、どちら側なのだろうか。
また、逢えるだろうか。
あの人は毎日あらわれ、私を見ている。
視線を感じるだけで、気配は感じない。
そして、ふと気がつくと、いなくなっている。
ずっと見ているつもりなのに、消える。
声を聞いた。
叫ぶような、歌うような、哀しい声。
だれかを呼んでいる。
そう思ったけど、まだわたしじゃない。
それがかなしかった。
待って来たものはなくなった。
もう何もない。
ここはいいところだ。もういいだろう。
これでよかった。ここにきてよかった。
あの人がきてくれる。
