Name: Default Costume (Japanese PS2 Version Only)
Character: Miku Hinasaki
Games: Fatal Frame & Fatal Frame III
Also called: Zero Costume

How do you obtain it?

Fatal Frame

This costume is the default costume for the Japanese PS2 version.
Miku is wearing this at the game start.

Fatal Frame III

Do either of the following:

  • Complete the game on Hard Mode.
  • Complete the game 3 times on Normal Mode.

Significance

This is Miku's signature costume. It resembles a school uniform.

The colours of the costume use the contrast between light and dark patches to make Miku stand out in the shadowy game environment. The red detail is intended to recall her name (which means "deep crimson") and the shade of blood, associating her more strongly with the colour red.[1]

Misc Info

  • The Miku Monster in Monster Rancher 4 wears this costume.
  • This outfit is an unlockable in Super Swing Golf and Super Swing Golf 2
  • When Fatal Frame was released to the US and Europe, the design of this costume was Default Miku Costume (FF1)|modified]].
  • This costume was not used in the Xbox Japanese version of Fatal Frame.
  • The lighter-coloured stripe at the bottom of Miku's skirt is made of translucent material, though the dark environment makes this difficult to see in the game, especially in lower resolution. In unlockable versions of this costume in Fatal Frame III and DLC for Fatal Frame V, the skirt is fully opaque, but the sheer effect is reproduced in Pachislot Zero.
