One day, Mafuyu Hinasaki, a novice journalist, receives a strange job offer. As he is about to leave for a meeting to discuss the job, his sister, Miku, stops him.
"Please, don't go..."
Mafuyu, who knows that his sister has a strong sixth sense, has an ominous premonition at her words, but sets off anyway, unable to turn down work. And thus, Miku's prophecy comes true. With his ordinary life crumbling about him, Mafuyu visits an old mansion, as if something is leading him there...

Misc. Info
- The idea for the novel arose from a glitch Makoto Shibata experienced during testing of Fatal Frame, where the Mafuyu on the screen was running around and taking photographs even though nobody was touching the controller.[2]
