Masato Hinasaki is the father of Miku and Mafuyu Hinasaki. He does not appear in any of the games, but is mentioned on the Fatal Frame official Japanese website and in the Fatal Frame Fanbook.
He was a relative of Mr. Hinasaki, the man who took in Mikoto Munakata after her parents died. He was a researcher working as an archaeologist. He and Miyuki married when she was still a student, and she worked as his assistant for a while, using a camera given to her by Mikoto to photograph ruins and pottery. They got married and had two children, Mafuyu and Miku, but Masato spent most of his time traveling around the country to study ruins, and paid little attention to his family. He died during his research.[1]
