Mio uses the Camera Obscura to exorcise Sae from Mayu's body. Mayu falls to the ground and Mio runs over to her. Mayu tells Mio that they will become one. There is a scene of what is presumably Sae and Yae Kurosawa and Itsuki and Mutsuki Tachibana's Crimson Sacrifice Rituals as Mayu tells Mio that she knows what she has to do. She lies back, bringing Mio's hands to her neck, but Mio throws herself back, saying she can't do it.
Mayu stands, admitting that she knows Mio could never hurt her, no matter how much Mayu wants her to. "If we won't become one... then... I don't mind if I'm in hell, as long as I'm with you."
Mayu starts to laugh, her figure once more overlapping with Sae's, but at the same time she is crying. Mio recalls that Sae was crying even while she laughed hysterically during the Repentance, and that after Mayu's childhood accident, she was also laughing through her tears of pain.
Mayu touches Mio's face as she tells her that they will be together forever here, just the two of them, as she wraps her hands around Mio's neck.
Later, a butterfly is shown fluttering across the cut-up victims of the Kusabi in the Great Hall, passing the girls. Mio lies motionless, eyes open, head on Mayu's lap, and the butterfly settles on her shoulder as Mayu strokes her hair.
After the credits, the Doll Stand Room in Kurosawa House appears. The two empress dolls are still sitting on the top shelf, but now one is missing her head. Mayu sits behind the screen at the back of the room, painting Mio's lips red. She sees a tear in Mio's eye and pulls her sister closer, kissing the tear away. Their shadow is cast on the screen.
