I looked into Mt. Hikami. It's always been a spiritual place. Not spiritual as in holy, but spiritual as in filled with the spirits of the dead.

Maybe that's why it's a suicide spot? Haruka wouldn't go to die alone, though. Not without telling me.

The books said people get spirited away to the mountain. They get called towards it and disappear, alone.

I read how it calls to people who are perceptive, anxious, meek and who lack family. My heart skipped a beat when I read that.

It was describing Haruka perfectly. She's so kind and accepting. She always opens up to me. She's alert, even when she seems to be spacing out.

She knows what I'm thinking.

Maybe she was spirited away...

But where do people go when they're spirited away? The more I think about it, the scarier it gets, and the more my heart starts pounding.

日上山について調べた。
昔は霊場だった。
霊場といっても、そんなに神聖な場所じゃ
なくて、死ぬための場所だった。

そのせいか、今は自殺の名所だ。

でも、春河が一人で死ぬはずはない。
私に何も言わずに。


他にも神隠しの山だと書いてあった。
山に入った人が消えるという話もあったけど、
山に誘われる人たちがいて、自分から入って
行くこともあるという。

「日上山に誘われやすい性質」という文章を
見つけた。
勘のいい人、神経質な人、身寄りのない人、
気が弱くて優しい人、という言葉が並んで
いて、息が止まりそうになった。


春河にも当てはまるところがある。
春河は優しくて断れない性格。
私にも心を開いてくれる。
のんびりしているようで勘が鋭い。
私の考えていることを言い当てたりする。

・・・神隠しかもしれない。


でも、神隠しにあった人はどこに行くのだろう？
想像すればするほど、恐ろしい考えが
浮かんでは消えて動悸が激しくなる。
