Woman in Dark, or Denizen of the Dark in Fatal Frame: Deep Crimson Butterfly was one of the inhabitants of Minakami Village consumed by the Malice of the Repentance. According to her Spirit List entry, she roams the village asking for help.
Woman in Dark is usually encountered as a random ghost around the village. Her only scripted appearance is in Chapter 7, outside the Doll Room in Kiryu House while Mio doesn't have the Camera Obscura. It is possible to go back after retrieving the camera and fight her.

Misc Info
- Due to her almost total lack of hair, she is sometimes mistaken for the Man in Dark ghost, but can be distinguished because of the kimono she wears.
- In Fatal Frame: Deep Crimson Butterfly, her new appearance includes an increase of hair, and a small ponytail.
